The Vineyard
Our vineyard is located in the area of Salakos, at the base of mount "Profitis. Elias", at the center of Rhodos island. The vineyard size is 13 acres divided into three different sub-vineyards. Two of them are no tirrigated (anhydrus) and the other is irrigated by owr drilling. Three more acres are waiting to receive planting permition from the Department of Agriculture.
The varieties of grapes that we cultivate are "Amorgiano" (which is the same name for "Mandilaria"), and Muscat Trani. In the vineyard we also have 20% of other clones of Muscats such as Muscat of Samos, Muscat of Alexandria, White Muscat etc. (Field Blend) The plants where planted in lines and the formation is "double cord". (Royat). The plants are 20 years old, at their original routs. (no american subject used).
Most of the cultivation care is done manually (pruning, defoliason, harvesting, etc.) as well as the destruction of weeds since 2015 is done only by mechanical means to avoid the use of chemical poisons. In fact, from 2021, We started green fertilization experimentally, in order to gradually reduce the use of chemical fertilizers.
